FUNDAMENTALS The basic driving force of the practice is the desire to create buildings and places which are deeply beautiful. To achieve this, a building must become a vital and positive part of its surroundings and enhance the lives and experience of those who come into contact with it. This means that in some sense the building itself needs to be thought of as a living thing, with its own integrity and relationship to its environment. The understanding that each project should take ecological sustainability seriously follows naturally from these concerns. From January 2009 onward, we have taken a firm decision that we will only take on new projects which have true sustainability as a central aim. More on this here .
